Ninth grade students of BSK visit Stone Castle Company ??
12 April 2019
As part of the chemistry class subject “Alcohol and its properties”, ninth grade students visited the Stone Castle company to see how wine is made.
They learned from the “Stone Castle” Laboratory Chief, Vlora Mushkolaj how the fermentation process is realized, the differences between white and red wine, the positive and negative impacts on the human organism during wine consumption, the types of grapes that are used during wine production, etc.
The students also learned that Kosovo meets all the requirements to produce quality wine.
Chemistry teacher at The British School of Kosovo, Mjellma Piperku said that seeing the wine making process is a whole different experience from simply explaining it in a classroom.
“The students have understood much more clearly what fermentation is and how it is accomplished. They also learned about the components from which the wine is made out of. This experience helps the students understand the chemical properties of organic compounds, more specifically of alcohols “Said Piperku.
